Tuition Assistance

Subsidy and Tuition Assistance—What Does It Mean?

St. Mary is committed to keeping tuition affordable and to offer financial assistance where needed to ensure all families can choose an excellent Catholic education for their children.

Whether Catholic or non-Catholic, we know not all families are aware of the financial assistance available for students. We want to provide you with this financial information as you make future school decisions.

Subsidy- Subsidy is one way the local parishes support Catholic education and the families who choose a St. Mary education. This is not based on your income or financial situation.  Catholic families who are active members of their parish and participate in the stewardship program of time, talent, and treasure are eligible for subsidy.  Participating parishes generously provide up to $2,575 per child per school year for families meeting the parish expectations above.

Father Lew White Scholarship (FLW) - The FLW Scholarship provides tuition assistance to Catholic families enrolled in the St. Mary School System, and over the years has provided over $1 million dollars to St. Mary families.

The Family Assistance Scholarship- The Family Assistance Scholarship provides tuition assistance to non-Catholic and Catholic families enrolled in the St. Mary School System.  In 2010 a generous donation was given to support families choosing St. Mary and to date over $360,000 has been given.

To receive funding from the Father Lew White Scholarship and/or the Family Assistance Scholarship, FACTS applications should be completed and submitted online each year. FACTS applications should be submitted no later than May 17, 2018 for the tuition  assistance to be awarded by June 20th.  The majority of Tuition Assistance will be awarded by the May 17th deadline.  We are available to assist you with the online process. It is our goal that need-based financial assistance is provided as objectively as possible. Therefore, St. Mary utilizes FACTS to handle the financial aid application and verification process. Once the application is completed and returned, FACTS provides all of the necessary information for St. Mary to distribute need-based financial assistance.

It does help to talk with the Director if there are extenuating circumstances or needs unable to be shared on the application for tuition assistance consideration.  All information provided by the family through FACTS or in talking with the Director is held in the strictest confidence.

Fourth Child Tuition Free- St. Mary does not charge tuition for the fourth (or more) child concurrently enrolled at St. Mary and attending kindergarten thru 12th grade.

If you have any questions about how to apply for subsidy or financial assistance, please contact Eleanor Spry at or 270-442-1681 ext. 273.

*Please note subsidy and all financial assistance are available to assist in tuition for kindergarten thru 12th grade and do not cover preschool tuition. Preschool tuition is tax-deductible.
