St. Mary High School sophomore, Ethan Barnett, has been selected as a participant in the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Program (HOBY).  Founded in 1958, HOBY’s mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation.

HOBY programs provide the outstanding students selected by their schools a unique leadership training, service-learning and motivation-building experiences.  The 2018 HOBY Kentucky seminar will be held at Transylvania University from May 31st – June 3rd. Students will participate in hands-on leadership activities, meet leaders from Kentucky, and explore their own personal leadership skills while learning how to lead others and make a positive impact in their community.

In addition to being selected for HOBY, Barnett is a member of the varsity soccer and track teams as well as the academic team and robotics team.  He is the son of Vanessa and John Barnett.
